Join us for our annual TOUCHING THE ANDES OF PERU TOURS!
This years dates are from May 20, 2009 through Jult 30, 2009.
The dream of free flight has filled peoples minds forever. Paragliding allows you to experience flying as fully as possible, with incredible ease.
Adventure Tour Productions has offered tandem paragliding from the Gold Hill launch 3,300' above Telluride Colorado, for several years. At the moment our local ski area has requested we take no more commercial flights from Gold Hill. We are currently working on a proposal to once again offer tandem flights from the Telluride Ski Area. In the summer months we have alternate launches which are just as high and spectacular, and therefore now only offer tandem flights during the summer months. Adventure Tour Productions still offers guided paragliding tours for experienced pilots. Tours within the US are for photo and video shoots as we do not hold the necessary permits to conduct guided tours on public lands. We are still traveling at least once a year to Peru offering our Touching the Andes of Peru Tour, and are currently putting together a Paragliding Tour to Kyrgyzstan where we spent a month flying in 2005.
Throughout time people dreamed of free flight, now it's possible with paragliding and it's very accessible. Paragliders have only existed since the nineteen eighties, but throughout the world the sport has gathered a great following.
Flying from Gold Hill launch above Telluride

Absolutely no experience or special skills are necessary for passengers. Passenger weight can range from 70 to 270 lbs. and physical fitness is more of a factor then age. Because launch sits above 12,000' and often some running is required to launch, the ability to take several long reaching steps may be necessary. Still the very slow flying speed of paragliders makes launching and landing easy and controlled.
All tandem pilots hold a T3 or Tandem Instructors license from the United States Hanggliding Association.
A thorough explanation and briefing is done with every passenger prior to launch. Both passenger and pilot are fitted with modern safe paragliding harnesses, and helmets. A reserve parachute is carried with the pilot. Because of the high elevation, warm cloths and gloves are needed for warmth.
Flying above the San Juan Mountains, in the open air, with soaring eagles, looking down on mountain lakes, snowy summits and deep green valleys is an experience of a lifetime. Even though we fly at only 25-30 mph, and our aircraft is made simply from fabric and lines, this is truly as close to experiencing real flight as possible.
Come fly with us and discover a whole new perspective of the world.
INTERNATIONAL PARAGLIDING TOURS:
Paragliding is the one area where I desire to act as a guide for clients, which is strange since flying, is essentially a solo sport. At the same time it is also an endeavor that requires more analysis and specific knowledge to practice safely and pursue with success. For this reason it makes sense to hire a guide to work as a liaison with all the different concerns when going in search of soaring, anywhere in the world. Because so many decisions are based on site-specific information, I generally steer prospective clients to established local guides, especially in serious or remote areas. Franz Shilter, an Austrian pilot living in the Urubamba Valley near Cuzco Peru, and Adam Hill of Sunrise Paragliding in Pokhara Nepal are two examples. As anyone stepping outside their immediate locality should, I actively pursue other pilots for consulting and site information. Still the number of sites I have flown and have intimate familiarity with is vast. Flying is a topographic and weather specific endeavor, so knowing when to be somewhere is critical. Not just knowing where to go, but when is a key to success.
This is the introduction to the Paragliding Tours Page, which essentially sums up what the tours are about. Closer to home I am able to bring very intimate knowledge of sites and weather to determine where to go when. Tours within the US are for photo and video shoots as we do not hold the necessary permits to conduct guided tours on public lands. The Rocky Mountain region is full of huge potential flying, as is the desert region of the Western US, but neither is well documented or easy to tour. This is all the more reason to hire a guide to make sure you are successful in attaining your flying dreams.
