Lima   Over Lima                                                 Soaring the Atacama Desert coastline                                    Sunset over the Pacific

The Pacific Coast lies along the Atacama Desert, one of the driest areas on earth, with dunes and  coastal cliff soaring that is both consistent and spectacular.   There are endless sites along the  thousands of kilometers of coastline, but the best known and most visited are in and near to Lima.

Lima, the capital of Peru, was chosen by the Spanish as their main port in South America, from  which they went on to conquer the rest of the continent.   Now a sprawling city with twelve  million residents, pilots find surprisingly consistent and fun flying right in the city.   Photos of  soaring the glass towers of the Marriott Hotel are now famous and widely published, and the  main flight park is just minutes from the nicest part of downtown, in the Mireflores area.
